Lexington, MN (MinnesotaNow)- Authorities in the Twin Cities area are investigating an apparent double homicide.

A news release issued by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office says law enforcement responded to the shooting shortly before 1:00 Wednesday morning. 

The news release also says authorities used a K-9 to track and eventually capture the suspected gunman

Woman & Boy Shot & Killed in Lexington, MN, Suspect in Custody

The deadly shooting was reported at a residence near the 9300 block of Ryan Pl. in Lexington. 

Upon arrival, authorities found a deceased woman and a “young juvenile boy” who was “gravely injured” inside of the home, the news release says. The boy was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Authorities deployed a K-9 and began searching around the home. They eventually located the suspect and the K-9 apprehended him, the news release says. 

The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment. 

Authorities say the names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The suspect’s name also has not been released. 

The news release says the deadly shooting does not appear to be random.
