Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester firefighters rescued a dog from a burning home on Saturday.

A news release issued by the Rochester Fire Department says crews responded to the fire shortly after 5:30 p.m. 

Preliminary reports indicated the residents of the home were not there but a dog was. Responding firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the back of the house.

Fire Extensively Damages Kitchen at Rochester Home

The fire was reported at a home in the 500 block of 8th St NW. Firefighters got inside of the house and found a fire in the kitchen. 

The news release states they quickly extinguished the fire. Crews also searched all three floors of the home.

They found and rescued a dog and confirmed no people were inside of the house. 

No injuries were reported. The Rochester Fire Marshal’s Division responded to document the scene, however no cause was given in the news release. 

The kitchen suffered extensive fire damage and significant smoke damage was reported throughout the home, the news release says. 

Mayo Clinic Ambulance, the Rochester Police Department, Minnesota Energy, Rochester Public Utilities and the American Red Cross also responded to the kitchen fire.
