Milan, MN (MinnesotaNow)- A woman is dead and children were among multiple people injured in a rural Minnesota crash.

That’s according to the State Patrol which responded to the deadly two-vehicle collision shortly after 6:45 Monday evening.

Five Children Among Six Hurt in Crash That Claimed Life of 47-Year-Old Woman in Chippewa County, MN

The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 59 and Chippewa County Rd. 32, which is about 45 miles west of Willmar. 

The SUV was heading north on County Rd. 32 and the pickup was southbound on Hwy. 59 when the vehicles collided, according to the state crash report. 

A 47-year-old woman from Milan, who was driving the SUV, died as a result of the crash, the State Patrol says. Her name has not yet been released. 

Unbuckled Juveniles

Three girls, ages seven, eight and 13 and two boys, ages seven and 10, were riding in the SUV. They were all taken to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

 

The state crash report says the 7-year-old girl, 8-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy were not wearing seatbelts.

It’s unknown if the other juveniles and the deceased driver were buckled.

Pickup Occupants Transported

22-year-old Isaac Alfred Greenhagen of Maple Lake was identified as the pickup driver. He was uninjured but went to a hospital, the state crash report says. 

37-year-old Dairi Cortezdacosta was riding with him. The State Patrol says he suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also brought to a hospital. 

The State Patrol is planning to release more information about the deadly crash on Friday.
