Minnesota Man Indicted for Murder of Mother of His Children Enters Guilty Plea
Burnsville, MN (MinnesotaNow)- A Minnesota man accused of murdering the mother of his children has entered a guilty plea.

39-year-old Jason Philip Filas of Burnsville was charged in May of last year with a count of second-degree murder.
He was then indicted on two counts of first-degree murder by a Dakota County Grand Jury last October.

The criminal complaint alleges he stabbed the victim, identified as 32-year-old Danielle Grace Warren, to death at a Burnsville home on May 7 of last year.
Responding Burnsville police officers found her deceased at the residence with two of their children, described in the complaint as five years old and nine months old.
A 911 caller told police she was on the phone with Warren when Filas was in the home. She stated she heard Warren scream “He has a knife! Call 911! Call 911!” before the call disconnected, according to the charges.
The woman called Warren’s phone back and Filas answered. He told the woman, “She should have never cheated on me. You better call 911,” the complaint says.
Filas was later arrested by police in Lakeville. Court records indicate he was convicted of two misdemeanor domestic assault cases involving Warren as the victim prior to the homicide.
Norgaard Plea
On Friday, Filas entered a guilty plea to a count of first-degree murder-while committing domestic abuse with past pattern of domestic abuse.
He entered a Norgaard Plea, which means he admits guilt but cannot recall his actions. All other charges against him were dismissed.

Filas is scheduled to be sentenced next week. A first-degree murder conviction in Minnesota mandates a life in prison sentence.
Filas will have the option of seeking parole, according to the plea deal.
