Every so often I do enjoy watching some of these competition shows.  It's fun to see the talent that sometimes very young people have.  I don't remember people that young having that much talent, but then we also didn't have the internet back in the day for people to show off their skills.  So there is that.

Last night the Voice was on.  We are now into season 28 of the Voice.  It hasn't been on for 28 years, more like 14 as they run two seasons per year.  Spring and Fall.  When the contestants perform, the coaches always ask who they are and where they are from.  It's fun when you hear that any of the contestants are from this part of the country and even better when they are from Minnesota.

SOUTHERN MINNESOTA REPRESENTED

This time, it's Cori Kennedy.  She is from the Kasson-Mantorville area.  She graduated from high school there, and then went on pursuing her dream.

I you are unfamiliar with how the Voice works, the first audition is blind.  All the coache hear is the contestant's voice.  Hence the name of the show.  If they turn around, then they want you on their team.  Sometimes you get all 4 coaches to turn around.  That usually means you are really good - or each coach thinks you have what it takes to possibly win the show.

AUDITION

The contestants get to choose their own audition songs.  Usually in a genre that they are interested in staying with, but not always.  And sometimes the coach that is chosen isn't necessarily in that genre either.  Like you may have someone who chose to audition with a rock song choose Reba McEntire as their coach.

COUNTRY GENRE

Cori Kennedy sang a Judds song.  And did choose Reba as her coach, so that one worked out.  She also sang an original song that was just for the coaches.  It was fun.  So obviously she has some songwriting skills too.

JOURNEY CONTINUES

Whether you are a country fan or not, having someone representing Minnesota is fun.  Hopefully she does well.  The Voice is on Mondays on NBC at 7pm and again on Tuesdays at 7pm for just an hour.
