Colin Mochrie Faces Health Scare But Is On The Mend
Colin Mochrie had a scare over the weekend.
The comic, best known for his role in “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?”, has been touring with Asad Mecci in a hypnosis and improv hybrid show called “HYPROV”. In the show, Mecci places 20 volunteers into a light hypnotic state and then Mochrie performs several improv-type skits with them under hypnosis.
They were in upstate New York over the weekend, with plans to continue to shows in Washington and Oregon later this week.

In a statement on both Mochrie and HYPROV’s social media channels, the shows were canceled because Mochrie suffered a detached retina and required emergency surgery. After the surgery, doctors were confident the 68-year-old comedian would make a full recovery after taking a few weeks off to rest.
A detached retina is a serious eye condition where the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, pulls away from its normal position, disrupting vision and potentially causing blindness if not treated urgently. Key signs include sudden flashes, floaters, or a dark shadow in your vision, requiring immediate medical attention.
The recovery is not expected to affect Mochrie’s upcoming Minnesota shows, including a stop on May 30th at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis. He’ll team with improv-comic and “Who’s Line” alum Brad Sherwood as part of the “Asking For Trouble” tour.
Tickets for that show remain on sale.
