Minnesota hockey fans have a brand-new reason to celebrate, and this one shines as bright as gold.

I’ll be honest with you… I love watching hockey. Playing it? That’s a completely different story. But the Minnesota Frost have really been showing the world what women's hockey is all about.

OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS FOR MINNESOTA FROST

Our Minnesota Frost aren't just Walter Cup Champs, they are Olympians in my book, thanks to the amazing performance that our USA hockey team put on at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

WOMEN'S TEAM USA CAPTURES GOLD AT MILANO CORTINA WINTER GAMES

In a heart-pounding 2-1 overtime victory over Canada, Team USA captured Olympic gold at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, and right at the center of that historic win? Six players who call the Minnesota Frost home!

Ice skating has never exactly been my strength. Actually, let’s just say sports in general haven’t been the road my uncoordinated body has traveled very successfully. But watching it and feeling that energy? That’s something I can sign up for.

HATS OFF TO THE FROST - MINNESOTA'S SIX

This wasn’t just a win for Women's Hockey Team USA... it was a win for Minnesota.

Leading the charge was captain Kendall Coyne Schofield, along with alternate captains Lee Stecklein and Kelly Pannek. They were joined by standout Frost teammates Grace Zumwinkle, Britta Curl-Salemme, and Taylor Heise, all making a massive impact on hockey’s biggest stage.

If you’ve been following the Frost, you already know this team is killer. Now the rest of the world knows it too.

COUNTING THE OLYMPIC MEDALS

Coyne Schofield and Stecklein now each have four Olympic medals, including two golds. Pannek added another gold to her collection, bringing her total to three Olympic medals. Zumwinkle earned her first gold, while Heise and Curl-Salemme celebrated their very first Olympic medals...something they’ll never forget.

THE TRIPLE GOLD CLUB

And here’s the part that blows me away. All six are now members of the prestigious Triple Gold Club. That means Olympic gold, World Championship gold, and the Walter Cup. That’s not just good…that’s unheard of.

How good were they? Let me tell you. Women's Team USA didn’t just win. They dominated, outscoring opponents 33-2 throughout the tournament.

IT'S SO FFFFRRRRROSSSSTTYYYYYYY IN HERE

Our Minnesota Frost players were right in the middle of it all. Curl-Salemme and Heise combined for 11 points, and Heise assisted on the overtime game-winning goal that sealed the gold medal victory. Could it get any better than that?

It’s also another reason we should be filling arenas across Minnesota. Whether it’s cheering on the Frost or packing the house for the Minnesota Wild, this state lives and breathes hockey, and performances like this prove we’re watching some of the best players in the world. I don't think we should be taking these moments for granted.

MINNESOTA FROST HOCKEY RETURNING IN MARCH
