From ‘Small-Minded’ to Big-Hearted: Duluth Responds to Cargill Criticism
Duluth is buzzing about Kathy Cargill's comments about Park Point and how "small-minded" we are, and how the Mayor "peed in his Cheerios" about her plans.
In comments made to the Wall Street Journal about the 22 parcels of land and 13 homes she now owns, she said that she had plans to modernize the Park Point neighborhood and add amenities like a sports complex and coffee shop. Those plans now appear to be scrapped.

What is The Duluth Cheerio Challenge?
Some in Duluth are taking her comments about Mayor Reinert and him peeing in his Cheerios into some good for our community with the "Cheerio Challenge", in a video posted in a Facebook group created for the initiative, organizer Chad McKenna says, "Let's show what a large-minded community can do."
The Cheerio Challenge is encouraging people to make a donation of Cheerios to local food banks for Minnesota FoodShare Month, which "brings together organizations, businesses, faith communities, and individuals to help keep 300 food shelves statewide stocked throughout the year."
Duluthians are being encouraged to bring a box or two of Cheerios to organizations like CHUM, Union Gospel Mission, and Salvation Army for distribution to families in need throughout the Northland. CHUM could certainly use the cereal, as they distribute over 800 boxes a month or 10,000+ boxes a year.
Where Can You Donate to The Duluth Cheerio Challenge?
Donations are being collected at the Duluth Labor Temple on London Road Wednesday through Friday this week between 8 AM and 4 PM, the donated food will be distributed to CHUM, Union Gospel Mission, and Salvation Army.
