Popular Northwest Wisconsin Resort Will Now Let Even More Kids Ski Free
Experts believe that having kids learn to ski offers a wide range of physical, mental, and social benefits, while also providing opportunities for family bonding. It is a winter activity that can foster lifelong healthy habits and valuable life skills.
To make skiing more accessible to young people, Mont Du Lac Resort, in Northwestern Wisconsin, launched a 10-and-under initiative two seasons ago that allowed kids 10 and under to ski free.
That initiative saw tremendous success, with youth season pass participation nearly tripling from the previous year. Now, ahead of the 2026-2027 winter season, Mont Du Lac has announced that it is expanding the initiative and giving even more kids the opportunity to ski free.

Mont Du Lac Resort Announces An Expanded Family-Friendly Program
Mont Du Lac Resort is located in Superior, Wisconsin, near the Minnesota border. It's situated along the St. Louis River, offering skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in the winter, and water activities, biking, and disc golf in the summer.
The resort recently announced a major new winter initiative designed to remove financial barriers to winter sports by providing free season passes and lift tickets for all youth ages 15 and under during the 2026–2027 winter season.
The new, expanded 2026–2027 Kids Ski Free program is expected to significantly expand participation in this age group by providing access for more than 1,500 youth during the 2026–2027 winter season.
The program is expected to become one of the most accessible youth ski programs in the Midwest, opening the door for thousands of children to learn to ski and snowboard, regardless of financial background.
“We want to create lifelong skiers and snowboarders,” said resort leadership. “By removing the cost barrier for kids, we’re making it easier for families to spend time together on the mountain and introduce the next generation to winter sports.”

The youth program pairs with Mont Du Lac’s reduced-price season passes and daily lift tickets, providing additional access for parents and families looking for affordable ways to enjoy winter recreation together.
How Do Families Sign Up For The Kids Ski Free Program?
Registration for 2026–2027 youth season passes and all winter passes will officially open on March 21, 2026, during the resort’s annual Spring Meltdown Event.
Families who register youth passes during the Spring Meltdown event on March 21 will receive an additional benefit: Mont Du Lac will waive the season pass hard card fee for all youth who register that day.
The Spring Meltdown is a fun celebration that will feature live entertainment, competitions, and the resort’s popular pond skim event, allowing families to celebrate the end of the winter season while securing free youth access for the following year.
