Pat yourself on the back! According to a new WalletHub study, Minnesotans and Wisconsinites are pretty financially savvy.

As always, WalletHub released a study naming the states with the best and the worst budgeters based on a variety of factors.

I have always wanted to be a good budgeter but it takes a lot of willpower, practice and patience. Maybe it can be my 2025 resolution!

Nevertheless, Minnesota and Wisconsin did quite well. I am pretty proud of us on this one! This shouldn't be surprising though, as Minnesota was named the most financially savvy state earlier this year.

How Did Minnesota Do?

Minnesota came in at number six on the list, making us some of the best budgeters in the country cracking the top ten. We have the highest median credit scores, one of the factors taken into consideration in this study.

WalletHub analysts also looked at foreclosure rates, credit card usage and how much debt each person has compared to their income, not including their mortgage.

What About Wisconsin?

Believe it or not, Wisconsin actually did better than Minnesota in this study, being named the fifth best state when it comes to budgeting. Like Minnesota, Wisconsin has one of the highest median credit scores.

Hawaii wears the crown in this study, the state where the residents are the best budgeters in the entire country! The state with the worst budgeters? That would be Mississippi.
