Do You Know What This Green Light At Self-Checkouts Is For?
I have a real love-hate with self-checkouts. I'd rather go to a cashier and have them ring up my goods, but I also hate to wait in line, and the self-checkouts are usually open.
Sometimes I have an issue at a self-checkout and an employee has to come help me out. Usually, it has to do something with the scale not picking up a scanned item.

I was at a Super One store in Superior, Wisconsin the other day when I had another issue. The computer told me to place the item back in the bag area. Then an alarm went off and the employee came over to help me.
I made a joke and said, I don't know what I did, and it always does this to me. Either I move the bag too quickly, or I don't have something picked up on the scale. That's when he enlightened me to what the green light is on the register.
I haven't tried it at other stores, but self-checkouts work very similarly everywhere, right? The employee told me that the green light lets you know when you're good to remove a bag, and that the scale has registered the item. If the light is off, wait until it comes back on before you move anything.
Am I the only one who didn't know this? I guess I missed the training for self-checkouts. Maybe this will prevent more issues in the future with my love-hate relationship with these kiosks.
