23-Year-Old Man and 14-Year-Old Boy Shot and Killed Inside North Minneapolis Home
Minneapolis, Minn. (Minnesota Now) -- Two people, including a teenage boy, were shot and killed inside a North Minneapolis home Monday afternoon, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.
Police say a call came in around 3:30 p.m. with a report of a shooting at a home in the 4200 block of Irving Avenue North. When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Suspect Had Been Released From Jail Earlier That Day
Authorities say preliminary information shows a 23-year-old man, who had previously been arrested by Minneapolis police on February 15 on a warrant and released from the Hennepin County Jail earlier in the day, traveled to the home and entered the residence. A shooting happened inside, killing the two victims, who police believe are related to the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene.

Armed Man Arrested at Scene Not Connected to Shooting
While officers were still investigating at the home, another man arrived carrying a handgun. Police arrested him and booked him on suspicion of assault and obstructing the legal process. Officials say he was not involved in the homicide.
Officer-Involved Shooting Later Reported in Brooklyn Center
Investigators say the suspect later traveled to Brooklyn Center, where he was involved in an officer-involved shooting. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is handling that investigation and will release additional details.
“Our investigators are working to determine the sequence of events and to make some kind of sense of this absolutely senseless tragedy,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said. “This is an unimaginable loss for this family who are still dealing with a family member who was murdered last year.”
Names of those involved have not yet been released.
