With snowfall after snowfall recently, conditions seem fine to hit the trails with your snowmobile. But what are the rules you need to know to operate a sled in Owatonna. The Owatonna Police Department (OPD), through their newsletter Just the Facts, shared the SEVEN rules to follow.

DON'T operate a snowmobile in city parks, golf courses, school grounds or recreational areas.

DO get to the city limits right away, "A snowmobile may only by operated on a city street going to and from the city limits and on the most direct route."

DON'T "create loud, or unnecessary noise." This is considered a public nuisance.

DO get written permission to ride across private property.

DON'T ride a snowmobile in the downtown area.

DON'T be careless or reckless.

KEEP IT TO THE SPEED LIMIT. "The absolute speed limit of a snowmobile operated in the city limits is 15 miles per hour."
