Hayfield, Randolph Among Top Ranked Class A Baseball Teams
The defending State Champion Hayfield Vikings and last year 4th place finisher Randolph Rockets are among the top ranked Class A teams in the first poll released by the Minnesota Baseball Coaches Association on Friday, April 1, 2022
Hayfield is #1, Randolph #3 with New York Mills #2. Last season the Vikings defeated New York Mills in the Championship game at Target Field after New York Mills survived a marathon 15 inning game with Randolph in the semifinals of the winner's bracket.
Both Hayfield and Randolph are members of the Gopher Conference this season.
Lyle-Pacelli from the Southeast Conference is rated #9 in the smallest schools class.
Class 2A has Glencoe-Silver Lake, Perham and Wadena-Deer Creek in the top three with Belle Plaine #4. Rochester Lourdes is #7, Plainview-Elgin-Millville #8.
G-S-L are the defending State Champions after defeating Belle Plaine in the title game. Aitkin was #3 and P-E-M #4.
Class 3A Mankato West is #1 and Mankato East #10. Neither were at state last season. #2 in the poll is defending Champion Mahtomedi. St. Thomas Academy was #3.
Class 4A Farmington is on top with Stillwater and Andover right behind. The Tigers won the largest schools state title with Andover 3rd, Minnetonka #4.
Farmington defeated Park 12-10 in the title game at Target Field.
