Gov. Walz Activates National Guard For COVID 19 Response
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Governor Tim Walz has activated the Minnesota National Guard as part of the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The governor says Executive Order 20-13 calls for the use of the National Guard to transport personal protective equipment from Camp Ripley to the Minnesota Department of Health warehouse in St. Paul. The activation order also states the National Guard will help coordinate the delivery of the equipment to help address a critically low supply of masks, gowns, face shields and other protective gear needed to protect healthcare workers from contracting the infection.
The Executive Order will remain in effect through the duration of the Peacetime State of Emergency declared by Walz last week.
