If you live in Lonsdale or Lakeville you must be feeling pretty safe. According to FBI crime data analyzed by AdvisorSmith they recently named the top-10 safest towns, midsize and large cities in Minnesota. Coming in at number one for towns (pop <10,000) was Lonsdale, and taking the top spot for large cities (pop >50,000) was Lakeville.

How were the 'safest towns/cities' determined by AdvisorSmith? According to their online study, their "analysis was based upon reported levels of property crimes such as burglary, larceny, and vehicle theft, along with violent crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, and assault, which were reported by each city. Crime data was published by the FBI in September 2019, reflecting crime levels in the calendar year 2018." [The most recent year available]
