The Farmington Tigers scored a 5-4 double overtime win over the Lakeville North Panthers in Owatonna for the Section 1AA championship Thursday night.  The Tigers scored on their first two shots of the game and it looked like they were going to win handily after going up 3-1 in the first period.

Lakeville North tied the game in the third period on a penalty shot by senior Olivia Reid at 9:51.  The first overtime went scoreless.  Freshman Claire Enright scored the game winner to complete a hat trick and send her team to the State Tournament next week.  The assist went to senior Jenna Gerold who scored the first goal of the game unassisted.  Enright is the Tigers top scorer this season.

Farmington had 28 shots and Lakeville North 22.  The Tigers were 1 for 4 on the power play and Panthers 1 for 8.  Panthers goalie senior Kallie Schnider saved 7 shots in the first overtime after it appeared Lakeville North had the momentum following a 9 to 3 shots advantage in the third period.

Sophomore goalie Ryleigh Furlong picked up the win for the Tigers with 24 saves.  The two South Suburban Conference teams know each other so well.  Both schools brought their bands to the game making the atmosphere terrific.

Lakeville North ends their season 17-10-1,  Farmington has a 15-11-2 mark going into the state seeding meeting this weekend.
