Owatonna's fast pitch softball team fell to Farmington 10-2 in the first round of the Section 1AAAA tournament Tuesday at Morehouse Park. The Huskies were home as the fourth seed despite a 2-1 loss to the Tigers early this season. Owatonna (11-10) faces a must-win game Thursday, June 3 at Todd Park in Austin against Rochester Mayo (6-15, eighth seed). Coverage will be heard on AM 1390 KRFO and 94.7 FM.

On Tuesday, Farmington capitalized on a couple of Owatonna errors for a 1-0 lead in the second. OHS committed five errors and had some miscommunication according to coach Jeremy Moran, "We struggled tonight and Farmington took advantage of our struggles."

But Owatonna kept it close most of the way, trailing 2-0 after four and 4-1 after six, "Parris Hovden pitched outstanding in the first six innings to keep us in the game. We just did not do the little things well enough tonight and did not play our game. Too many mistakes in the field and not enough offense to stay with Farmington and their pitcher threw well tonight."

Offensive highlights for Owatonna included Katelyn Bentz going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Samantha Bogen had a hit and drove in a run. Paiton Glynn went 2-for-3.

If Owatonna beats Mayo Thursday, they will play another elimination game right away. All remaining games are at Todd Park in Austin.
