Faribault Salvation Army Family Store Closing Immediately
In a news release this morning The Salvation Army Northern Division made the sad announcement that they are immediately closing four of their Family Stores in Minnesota, including the Faribault location.
The four locations that are closing are Cloquet, Morris, Faribault, and Fairmont. The reason they are closing these locations is due to the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). In the news release, the commander of The Salvation Army Northern Division, Lt. Colonel Lonneal Richardson, said “'Because of the lost revenue from being closed and the challenging retail environment ahead, these stores would not be financially viable in the COVID-19 era.'"
Lt. Richardson also wanted to be sure people knew that even though these Family Stores are closing that does not mean other services are going away. "Food distributions, emergency assistance and other social services will continue unabated in their current locations". That does not include the Faribault location though. For the time being, the Faribault social service office will be run out of the Owatonna location "until a new Faribault location is selected."
Because of these store closures, 19 full-time and part-time staff have been affected.
