The Faribault Falcons came into this season wondering who would be the backup goalie to senior Mikayla Bohner should she need some time off.  Senior Serenity Knott was between the pipes Tuesday in a 9-4 win over Mankato West in Mankato.

Knott had 11 saves for the Falcons.  Junior Ashley Rost was in net during Faribault's previous win.  Faribault had 42 shots on goal.  They were 1 for 1 on the power play.  The Scarlets were 1 for 2.  Junior Alli Velander had a hat trick for Faribault.

The Falcons started fast, scoring 37 seconds into the game when senior Haley Lang (8) notched an unassisted goal.  At 3:08 eighth grader Isabelle Stephes (5) scored on an assist by senior Olivia Williamson.  Williamson (23) then scored a power play goal at 6:44 assisted by Lang (11).  Velander had the first of her three goals at 7:51.

Both teams scored twice in the second period to make the score 6-2 after two periods.  2:22 into the second period Rost (8) scored with an assist to senior Abigail Goodwin (10).  15:26 into the second period eighth grader Grace McCoshen (6) scored with an assist by senior Emily Wilder (7).

Velander (6) scored 8:30 into the third period, also 48 seconds later with both goals assisted by Olivia Williamson (18).  The final tally was made by Goodwin at 15:26 assisted by Bergen Williamson (6).

Mankato West drops to 6-5

The Falcons are 11-2 and host Totino-Grace on Saturday.  The game is scheduled to be broadcast on KDHL Radio, 920 AM and on the FREE KDHL app worldwide beginning at 12:45 p.m.
