The Faribault Falcons girls hockey team traveled to New Ulm Saturday and passed one of their stiffest tests of the season with a 2-0 win.  The Eagles have a great tradition of state tournament appearances.  New Ulm outshot Faribault 29 to 26.

Senior goalie Mikayla Bohner picked up her fourth shutout of the season and her second in a row for the #18 Class A rated Falcons, now 9-1.  Eagles goalie Ava Brennan (7th grade) also pitched a shutout through the first two periods.  New Ulm is 6-4.

Faribault was 0 for 2 and New Ulm 0 for 1 on the power play in the New Ulm Civic Center.

4:53 into the final period senior Abigail Goodwin (14) scored assisted by Rylie Starkson (8). 14:39 senior Olivia Wiliamson (18) gave her team a two goal cushion assisted by Serenity Knott (5).

Faribault goes to Owatonna Tuesday where they have had their problems winning over the years.  The Huskies are 5-0 in the Big Nine so a win is probably necessary to keep within striking distance for the conference crown.  Northfield is 3-0 in league play.  The Falcons are 6-1.
