Faribault Fire Chief Dusty Dienst will be the guest on our KDHL AM Minnesota program this morning at 9:30.  Dienst says they have a couple positions open for paid call firefighters and they haven't been able to get enough applicants for a waiting list they like to have available.  The Faribault Fire Department has 9 full-time firefighters and are authorized to have up to 30 paid part-time firefighers.

According to Faribault Fire Department statistics through May there were 37 city fire calls and 12 rural fire calls.  42 city rescue and 9 rural rescue calls.  26 structure fires, 5 vehicle fires and 10 grass/brush fires.  The total fire losses city and county are $831,800.

We will ask the Faribault Fire Chief about eligibility requirements including physical requirements for the job.  These days firefighters go on many more medical calls than fire calls and are trained to be first responders.

For example through May Faribault Fire Department statistics show there were 620 medical calls and 37 fire calls in the city and 43 medical calls and 12 fire calls outside the city.
