We are scheduled to visit with representatives of the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce today at 9:30 a.m.  There is a lot to talk about.  A grant was awarded recently to Main Street Faribault for art displays to continue in the downtown area.  Kelly Nygaard might be stopping by to give us more details.

Last time Kelly was here we talked about the rich history of Faribault and the benches project.  We'll get an update on how that is going.  These benches have cast iron ends, locally crafted s eats, and panels comprised of rarely seen archived photos and riveting facts about Faribault throughout the years.

Twenty five benches will tell the stories of Faribault's history, allowing visitors and locals to learn more about the community.  KDHL will be getting a historical bench.  I'm sure a picture will be included of the first voice heard on KDHL, that of legendary Dean Curtis.  I'm not sure exactly what is planned.

Businesses and individuals can sponsor a bench at a cost of $1,200 for five years or $3,000 for 25 years.

The Faribault Chamber notes the fee covers the design work, fabrication, installation and maintenance of the benches.

The Blandin Community Leadership Program is offering it's nationally recognized leadership training to people in Faribault.  There is no cost to those selected for this opportunity.

An informational meeting will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in the Conference Room at Buckham West (Senior Center) 19 West Division Street in Faribault.

Applications are due Monday, July 22nd.
