Fairmont Baseball Top Seed Watertown-Mayer #2 in Class 2A State

The Fairmont Cardinals were chosen by the Class 2A State Tournament coaches for the top seed for the event which starts Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in St. Cloud.

Class 2A first round games will be held at Dick Putz Field.  The Cardinals (24-3) received a tough random draw in Sibley East (17-5) at 10:00 a.m.

Fairmont averages 9 runs and gives up 3.2 each game during the season.  Their QRF is #1 while the Wolverines have won 5 straight games to get to state and have a QRF of 24.

#2 seed Watertown-Mayer (20-5) has a QRF of #6 and faces St. Agnes School (21-4) with a QRF of 25.  The Royals and Aggies square off at 3:00 p.m.

Watertown-Mayer averages 6.8 runs and surrenders 3.2 runs per game.  St. Agnes from St. Paul is averaging 8.5 runs and giving up 3.5.

#3 seed Marshall School of Duluth (17-5) with QRF #2 opens competition with the Roseau Rams (17-6), QRF #11.

The Hilltoppers average 6.2 runs, hold opponents to 2.8.  The Rams average 9.5 and allow 2.5.  Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

#4 seed Wadena-Deer Creek (23-4), QRF #5 has #5 seed Rochester Lourdes (18-4) in their opener.  The Eagles QRF is #7 and they average 8 runs a game while giving up 2.

The Eagles go into the State Tournament with 8 straight wins.  The Wolverines average 7.3 runs per contest and allow 2.7 runs per game.

The #1 seed bracket semifinals game is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 while the #2 seed winner's bracket game is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dick Putz Field.

The loser in the top seed game plays 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022) at Ortopedic Sports Field in Sartell.

The #2 seed game loser plays 12:15 p.m. at the same site.

Third Place game is 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dick Putz Field.  Consolation Bracket title game is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

State Class 2A Championship is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 at Target Field in Minneapolis.
