Ellendale’s ‘Iron Man’ Loses His Battle With Lung Cancer

Some sad news came out of the Ellendale area yesterday as Dan 'Iron Man' Mischke passed away after "fighting for 7 years" according to a post to Facebook from his sister Tiffany. This past November Dan won the Iron Man award from Spare Time Entertainment for not missing a week of bowling while he went through treatments for his lung cancer. 

Dan, who was an avid bowler, passed away before his beloved San Francisco 49ers played in today's Super Bowl. You can bet somewhere up in heaven Dan will be watching and cheering on San Francisco.

While Dan and I had never met, we shared a couple of friends, and all of them had positive things to say about Dan and they shared positive memories of him yesterday on social media. All I can hope for is that Dan is now resting comfortably in Heaven. Rest easy Dan, rest easy.
