Duplex Fire Kills Young Minnesota Child
Remer, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in northern Minnesota in Cast County are reporting the tragic death of another young child.
A news release from Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch says a one-year-old boy died in a fire at the duplex in rural Remer early today. The fire was reported around 1:46 AM and deputies found the residence engulfed in fire when they arrived at the scene.
A woman and three children were able to safely before emergency personnel arrived and deputies were able to rescue a woman found in a bedroom. The deceased child was also found inside the home. His name is not been released and an autopsy is being conducted by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of the fire is also under investigation.
Last weekend, a 1 1/2-year-old girl was killed in Cass County when she was run over by a vehicle driven by her uncle in the driveway at her family's home. The uncle has been charged with multiple counts of criminal vehicular homicide for allegedly driving drunk and fleeing the scene.
