Deadly UTV Accident Reported In Freeborn County
Albert Lea, MN (KROC AM News) - There was a deadly weekend accident in rural Freeborn County involving a utility terrain vehicle.
Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag says it was reported around 11:00 pm Saturday in the area of 180th St and 780th Ave.
Freitag says the driver of the UTV was identified as 65-year-old Steven Reese from rural Austin. His passenger was identified as his wife, 70-year-old Elgene Van Dyk.
He says the UTV was eastbound on 180th St when it lost control and entered the south ditch. The UTV then rolled over before landing upright on its wheels at the bottom of the ditch.
The two were transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems Albert Lea were Reese later died.
