Dakota County Drowning Victim Identified
Ravenna Township, MN (KROC AM News) - The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim of drowning in the Vermillion River Monday.
The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 30-year-old Maung Ngae from St. Paul. The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a probable drowning on Monday around 8:50 p.m. in the Vermillion River near the Etter Bridge in the Ravenna Township, according to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office.
A witness told officers that the adult male victim was attempting to swim across the river, but the fast-moving current swept him downstream where the witness lost sight of him.
Crews searched for the man for several hours and he body was found and recovered at approximately 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning using sonar. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office is working on confirming the identity of the victim.
