COVID-19: Empty Churches During Holy Week
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The most significant week of Christianity has arrived but Rochester Christians will have to do their worshipping at home.
Their places of worship will not be holding services due to the coronavirus crisis.
Church parking lots were empty Sunday, which was Palm Sunday. They will remain empty during Holy Week - and Easter Sunday.
The Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and other churches in the city set out palms in their parking lots Sunday and offered them to the public.
The co-cathedral also gave its parishioners the opportunity to “distant worship” by live-streaming the Palm Sunday service through its Facebook site. It will do the same for Easter Sunday. The church earlier canceled its Way of the Cross procession that has been held in downtown Rochester on Good Friday the last several years.
