The Blooming Prairie golf teams both captured Gopher Conference titles this spring after closing out the league schedule with Thursday's meet at Waseca Lakeside Golf Club. A "clean sweep" wrote coach Carl Peterson in an email. The standings take the total strokes of conference meets and the season-ending tournament into account. The Awesome Blossoms had the top two girls finishers and three in the top ten for the boys.

For the girls competition, "The Blossoms won handily," Peterson indicated. BP had 1,294 total strokes. USC was second with 1.452. "Individually, Halle Strunk (46.8 average) was first place and Jessica Ressler (47.2) was second. Halle and Jessica were very close all year with just two strokes separating them at the end. Halle, Jessica and Maggie Bruns were awarded All-Conference awards."

"On the boys side the race was much closer. Ultimately, only two strokes for the entire year separated first and second." A couple of standout performances clinched the title, "Junior Garret Farr (41) and freshman Kaiden Alwes (44) shot their best nine-hole rounds of the year on the second nine (at the conference tournament)."

BP stood at 1,040 total strokes. United South Central had 1,042, just ahead of Bethlehem Academy's 1,044.

"Individually, Colin Jordison from BP had been vying for the conference individual title all year but did not have his best day on Thursday." He still finished fifth overall (40.3 average). Jordison earned All-Conference along with Alwes (sixth, 43.5). Farr (tenth, 44.2) was honorable mention. Keegan Bronson from Hayfield won the boys individual title with a 38.8 average. Brayden Larson of Bethlehem Academy and Teien Murphy from Maple River tied for second place with 39.2.

The Blooming Prairie boys face Owatonna Thursday, May 27 at the Owatonna Country Club. Section play begins June 1 and 2 at Eastwood Golf Club in Rochester for BP.
