Blooming Prairie Boys Open Playoffs with Road Win
The Blooming Prairie boys' basketball team went to Leroy-Ostrander Thursday as the No. 9 seed in Section 1A and came home with a 63-48 win. Coach Nate Piller said, "It was all about our defense tonight." The Awesome Blossoms held the Cardinals to 12 first-half points and led 42-14 early in the second half, "But things never feel comfortable in the playoffs."
Kaden Thomas led BP with 17 points. Trent Swenson scored 14. Karson Vigeland had ten and Max Romeo added eight. Piller said, "They really worked on defense and offensively put the team first." Blooming Prairie advances to the section quarterfinals to play top-seed Rushford-Peterson Tuesday, March 6 at the Mayo Civic Auditorium at 6PM. "Great effort and I'm thrilled to be able to extend our season and play in Rochester." RP whipped Houston 74-35 Thursday.
In Thursday's other games, No. 4 seed Faribault Bethlehem Academy beat Southland 56-44. Fifth-seed Kingsland edged Grand Meadow 54-53. No. 2 seed Spring Grove raced by Hayfield 69-29. Tenth-seed Goodhue upset Schaeffer Academy 47-45. Third-seed Wabasha-Kellog beat Fillmore Central 51-44. No. 11 seed Lyle/Pacelli upended Randolph 60-54.
