Section 1A is split into two subsections. The East Subsection has eight teams and the West Subsection has six teams. The first round is single elimination at the higher seeds and starts this evening and then the second round is tomorrow evening. Due to the endless winter weather in April the fastpitch season was crammed into about three weeks with most teams getting in around 15 games. Section 1A evidently doesn't want teams to get a practice between their first and second games. The West Subsection then goes to Austin and the East Subsection to Preston.
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown is the #2 seed in the West Subsection so if the Cardinals and Buccaneers win then Tuesday Bethlehem Academy would go to Waterville for a 5:00 p.m. game. Hayfield is the top seed and earned a bye. They are the three time defending section champions.
The top seed in the East Subsection is Wabasha-Kellogg. Goodhue received the #2 seed in this tournament and opens with Rushford-Peterson at home. That means if the Wildcats win they would get another home game tomorrow. Mabel-Canton is the #3 seed and hosts Southland. The complete Section 1A bracket is below.
