Ambrose John Moriarity Jr., age 91, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024, at Allina Medical Center, Special Care Unit to be with our heavenly Father.

Jim (Ambrose) was born in Shieldsville Township, Rice County, MN on April 9, 1933, to Mary Moriarity (Benzick) and Ambrose Moriarity Sr.  Jim attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from high school in 1949.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956, then continued with the Army Reserves for 11 years, followed by the Air Force Reserves for 8 ½ years.  Jim was active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562, serving as Past Commander.  He also was a member of the American Legion Post 43.  He later worked at Shattuck School as caretaker and maintenance of the golf course for many years. He then was employed for 16 years with the Faribault School District at Garfield Elementary until his retirement.

Jim enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, bowling, bird watching, and was an avid reader.  He played acoustic guitar, banjo, and harmonica. Jim always had a cut and dry sense of humor that left a lasting impression.  He is forever loved and will be dearly missed.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Robin Wellentin; son, Dan Moriarity; brother, Al Moriarity (Carol); grandchildren, Jasmine Moriarity, Amber Wellentin (Bradley Sanford), Lacey Wellentin, and Zach Wellentin, Kris Moriarity, Ashley Moriarity, and Britony Groves (Steve); great grandchildren, JaVonte Powell, Travion Powell, Chevy Moriarity, Charley Maie Moriarity, Kendra Wellentin, Aden Smith, Sophia Groves, and Bailey Groves; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Allen Moriarity, and a son at birth, Mark Anthony Moriarity; parents, Ambrose Sr. and Mary; and siblings, Eugene Benzick, Tony Moriarity, Francis Moriarity, Mary Ann Smith, and Richard Moriarity.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault.  Interment with honors will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.

The family of Ambrose John Moriarity Jr. (Jim) wishes to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to Dr. Brandi and the nursing staff at Allina Medical Center, Special Care Unit for the excellent care that was provided.  A special thank you to his brother, Al Moriarity and wife Carol for the care of Jim these last years and much needed support through these trying times.
