Now that we are in the Holiday season, we are more likely to enjoy a few adult beverages with family and friends while enjoying what the holidays have to offer. Minnesota has one of the strictest DUI laws in the country, but officials are still reminding us to drive sober not only during the holidays but year-round.

While scrolling through Twitter on Thanksgiving, there were a lot of reminders to drive sober from many organizations like the Minnesota State Patrol.

The easiest way to report drunk driving in Minnesota is to call 911. The Minnesota Department of Public Saftey says when reporting drunk driving, you are going to be asked a few questions. If you can get the license plate of the car that you suspect is driving under the influence, that would be super helpful. They will also probably ask you about the exact location you spotted the vehicle as well as what behaviors the driver has that makes you think they are drunk driving.

If you plan on drinking, it is best to have a plan before you start. Have a designated driver or have a plan to call an Uber or Lyft. The page also says to buckle up and if someone you know is trying to drive drunk, speak up.

I was back in Colorado for Thanksgiving and I saw a DUI checkpoint checking folks to see if they were able to drive. Around the holidays no matter what state you are in, it seems like there is an increase in patrol to catch those who chose to drive after a few.

According to this Tweet, 99 folks got caught driving under the influence on Thanksgiving this year in the land of ten thousand lakes. If I had to guess that is not as high as other states, but I don't know that for sure. This is just a good year-round reminder to think twice before driving drunk.
