5 Shows You Must See at the Steele County Fair – And It’s All Free
The list of 'To Do' events at the Steele County Free Fair in Owatonna is enormous. Here are a few shows you should have on your 'Must Do' list. This features a mix of something new, something old (really, really old), and stunt-performing dogs.
JURASSIC KINGDOM
The dinosaurs are on the move at the 2022 Steele County Fair. The Jurassic Kingdom attraction will be located on the north end of the race track, shifting from its spot at the KRFO Town Square in 2021. The show was a hit with big throngs of fair-goers crowding around the life-like dinosaurs.
The Steele County Fair pocket schedule boasts, "No other 'puppet show' compares to what Jurassic Kingdom has to offer. Not only do audiences get to see life-like dinosaurs in action, they have the opportunity to touch and interact with them throughout the show." Performances are scheduled for Tuesday at 8 pm and Wednesday through Sunday at 2 pm, 5 pm, and 8 pm. Sponsors include ReMax Venture and Hometown Credit Union.
STUNT DOG SHOW
The All-Star Stunt Dog Show has also drawn big crowds to watch the dogs execute "back flips, handstands, big air stunts, to amazing tricks...From large breed to small, you'll be mesmerized as these dogs compete in challenges like triathlon racing and high jumping."
The show is also located at the north end of the race track. The schedule is Tuesday at 6 pm and Wednesday through Sunday at 12 pm, 3 pm, and 6 pm. Sponsors include Fleet Farm, Farmer's Feed and Pet Supply, Cargill, Thrivent, and Bushel Boy Farms.
OTTER ADVENTURE
At this show new to the Steele County Fair see "otters swim, play and provide non-stop entertainment." Likewise, this attraction is at the north end of the race track, creating a hub of family-friendly entertainment all in one spot.
Show times are Tuesday at 7 pm and Wednesday through Sunday at 1 pm, 4 pm, and 7 pm. Sponsors are House Auto Group and Deml Heating and Air Conditioning.
HOT GLASS ACADEMY
Another new feature at the 2022 fair is the Hot Glass Academy. The fair pocket schedule indicates, "This one-of-a-kind glassblowing demonstration provides energetic and dynamic entertainment with educational values through an art form that is over 3,000 years old." Some items created will be available for purchase. The sponsors are Kottke Jewelers and Pirkl Gas.
READY, SET, GROW
"A fun agricultural magic show for kids of all ages with comedic, magic, juggling puppets, audience participation, and music," the attraction will be at the KRFO Town Square.
