3 Things To Know About The BP Cancer Auction
The 18th annual Blooming Prairie Cancer Group will have their annual action on Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8 starting at 7PM each night. The auction takes places under the Big Top near the Cue Company.
First off, while some of the funds raised go to the Eagles Cancer Telethon for research and also to the Hormel Institute, a number of dollars are available locally. Funds are available for area folks who need a financial boost while dealing with cancer. Gas cards for travel out of town for treatment,parking passes and utility bills if one falls behind due to the staggering cost of cancer and other needed items and services.
Secondly there are other events along with the auction. The Cut for a Cure will be 9-1PM on Saturday at the Field of Flags. Just show up and get a haircut for $5. The Run Down Cancer walk begins at the Field of Flags as well with registration at 8AM on Saturday. The Field of Pink Flags features 279 flags this year.
There will be bingo with prizes starting at 4:30PM followed by a performance by the Styx of Fury.
Lastly there are some super items on the auction block both nights. There will be a pin flag autographed by golfer Jordan Spieth. Also a picnic table with a built in cooler, a Ford racing flag autographed by the Ford racing team, and also a bench made out of a Ford tailgate and another one made out of a Chevy tailgate.
