Winter in Minnesota means snow, but here's something 25 percent of Minnesotans say they WON'T do during a snowstorm!

Navigating our way through bitter cold and heavy snow is a right of passage if you live in Minnesota, right? We pride ourselves on our ability to not only survive, but thrive, during our cold winter months.

However, a new survey says there IS one thing a quarter of residents here in the Land of 10,000 (Frozen) Lakes WON'T do in the winter: stop to help a stranded driver during a snowstorm. At least, that's according to a new survey by Gunther Volkswagen of Coconut Creek.

They surveyed 3,000 drivers across the country, asking if they would stop and help a fellow driver who had been stranded in a snowstorm with a broken-down vehicle. And the results showed that 1 in 4 Minnesotans said they would NOT stop a help a fellow North Star Stater whose vehicle had bit the dust-- or snow-- in the winter.

It's even worse over in my home state of Wisconsin, where 30 percent of residents surveyed said they wouldn't stop to help a fellow resident out during a snowstorm. The state with the highest percentage of residents who said they wouldn't stop is out in Nevada, where the survey said 42 percent of drivers wouldn't stop to help.

Perhaps, though, we're burying the lead here: the survey also found that the vast majority of Minnesotans-- 75 percent-- WOULD stop to help another driver whose vehicle had broken down during a snowstorm. So, yeah, 3 out of 4 Minnesotans say they would be a Snowstorm Samaritan. Which seems more likely, right? Especially given our penchant for being 'Minnesota Nice' and all.

The states with the highest percentage of drivers who said they WOULD stop to help out another stranded resident are Idaho and Wyoming, where a whopping 91 percent of residents surveyed said they would stop.

Being proud of our ability to make it through a cold winter each year is kind of a uniquely Minnesota thing, though. In fact, we celebrate winter here-- and also lay claim to a breathtaking frozen attraction that only exists in 5 other places in North America. Keep scrolling to see what it is!
