As part of the Federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Xcel energy has announced that they will be distributing almost $130 million to all Minnesota electricity customers. The distribution will be in the form of a credit on customers bills. Xcel estimate the refund for a residential electricity customer will be around $45. The actual amount will be tied to the customer's actual usage.

Gas customers of Xcel Energy will receive over $5 million in credits. The refund for a residential gas customer will average around $8 but actual refund will be based on the customer's actual use.

The credits came about after the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission approved the funds last week. Customers should expect to see their credit or credits by the end of the year.
