Upcoming Steele County Road Closure

The pavement overlay project on South County Road 45 between Highway 14 and CSAH 4 is scheduled to begin Monday, June 6. The road will be closed to through traffic. There will be posted detour routes around the project along Highway 14, Highway 218 and CSAH 4.

The overlay project will include a concrete pavement overlay with a bituminous paving of shoulders on the north end of the project, with the remaining project shoulders staying gravel. This project will also involve work on numerous right turn lanes.

The contractor will coordinate access for mail delivery, garbage pickup and school buses.

The project is expected to be completed by mid- to late August.

Plan ahead for the upcoming closure of a portion of Highway 45 south of Owatonna in June. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time to safely travel around and through the work zone.
