Knock the dust off your golf bag. Grab a couple of extra golf balls, as your shot might be a little rusty. Take a jacket along. After all, it is spring in Minnesota. Area golf courses are opening up with the advent of dry conditions and winter weather in the rearview mirror.

This list might need updates on a daily, or even hourly basis. MJ Knudson, clubhouse manager of Owatonna's Brooktree Golf Course, was excited to announce Friday that the course was open. Golfers will be limited to the upper nine until Tuesday when the full eighteen holes should be open. She said there are still a few snowbanks and some others that are fairly wet.

Knudson said Master's Bar and Grille is offering full beverage service over the weekend of April 28-29 and will offer its full menu beginning Tuesday. She also is happy to introduce online access to setting tee times coming soon to their website.

As of Friday, these golf courses around southern Minnesota are open, and probably many more.

  • Brooktree Golf Course, Owatonna
  • Owatonna Country Club
  • Havana Hills Par Three, Owatonna
  • Lakeside, Waseca (opening Saturday, April 28)
  • Meadow Greens, Austin
  • Riverview, New Richland
  • The Oaks in Hayfield
  • Wedgewood Cove, Albert Lea
