There is a new "challenge" out there, if you want to call it that. It stems from a TikTok video that has gone viral. This is a very dangerous challenge to try to copy, as it can lead to fire. The challenge involves partially inserting a cell phone charger into an outlet and then sliding a penny down the wall onto the plug’s exposed prongs, which can lead to sparks. Well, sparks can also lead to fire, damaged electrical systems, even a fire that can quickly get out of control.

The Massachusetts Fire Marshal Peter Ostroskey sent out a letter to all of the state's fire chiefs warning about this challenge. In the letter he advised that they were aware of two incidents in that state, one in a private home, the other in a school. The students involved in the school incident could be facing charges.

This story has gained traction, and the warnings are coming forth even here in Minnesota. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal posted this on their Facebook page:

They are unaware of any incidents here in Minnesota, but, they ask that parents talk to their children about the dangers that this challenge presents. Much like the Tide Pod Challenge and the Hot Water Challenge, these should not be replicated. Hopefully this video will just disappear without any more copycats.
