Winter Storm Warning

It can be very tempting to go down to check out huge waves when they develop on Lake Superior. However, while this storm is raging, that could be a very dangerous idea.

The Rochester area, along with most of southern Minnesota, much of Wisconsin and northeast Iowa, remain in the bullseye for what forecasters are describing as a powerful and dangerous storm system.

The first major snowstorm of the season for southeastern Minnesota is causing travel headaches in southeastern Minnesota, where National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning through noon on Sunday.

Travel in southwestern Minnesota is nearly impossible today because of blizzard conditions.

A winter storm warning is in effect from northwest Minnesota through southeast Minnesota and west central Wisconsin from Monday morning through Tuesday morning. A winter weather advisory is in effect for surrounding locations where less snow is expected.

Forecasters are telling residents of southern Minnesota to expect significant accumulations of heavy wet snow this weekend.

A low-pressure center cruising across the plains is forecast to deliver a messy and powerful winter storm to southeastern Minnesota on Monday.
