Rochester Century got off to a good start against the Huskies Monday night in the Owatonna gym. But basketball is a long game. By the end, OHS had put the game into running time and won their 11th in a row, 90-54 over the Panthers.

Medford Tigers' girls' basketball coach Mark Kubat was hopeful that sophomore Emma Kneifel would reach the 1,000-point milestone in their home gym Friday night before spending this week on the bus with a series of road games.

Four Owatonna High School varsity teams scored five wins Friday night, all in dominating fashion. OHS basketball swept Winona. The wrestlers earned a pair of non-conference victories. And the top-ranked gymnastics teams closed out their regular season with a lopsided win.

Owatonna basketball swept Northfield Tuesday to earn a season split with the Raiders. The OHS girls shutdown Northfield 54-41, their first Big Nine Conference loss. The OHS boys pulled away in the second half for an 82-55 victory.

Owatonna and Northfield have quickly developed a great Big Nine Conference rivalry since the Raiders rejoined the league a few years ago. Northfield has had the upper hand for the most part this winter. On Tuesday, Owatonna's basketball teams will be looking for a season split with Northfield while the OHS boys' hockey team aims for a season sweep.

Dalton Kubista scored 32 points to pace Owatonna to a 76-49 make game victory Saturday night over Mankato West at OHS. The win was the Huskies eighth in a row with a showdown against Northfield coming up Tuesday on the road.

Owatonna's boys' and girls' basketball team left little doubt about the outcome of Friday night's games by building huge first half leads in each case. The OHS boys won 73-25 at home for their seventh straight victory. The girls won at Albert Lea 76-43.

The Triton basketball programs will host 'Shooting for a Cure' Friday, January 26 as a fundraising event for cancer. Seven basketball teams play at home Friday, including both the boys' and girls' varsity teams.

The Owatonna and NRHEG boys' basketball teams continue to reel off win after win. The writers with Minnesota Basketball News have taken notice. OHS debuted at No. 19 in the Class AAAA poll last week after a win over No. 2AAA Austin. The Huskies have since followed that up with a victory over No. 4AAA Mankato East.

For the second time in the week the Owatonna High School boys' basketball team knocked off a top-five ranked team, beating No. 4 Mankato East Friday night 77-67. That win came three days after the No. 19 Huskies handed No. 2 Austin their first loss of the season 72-61.
