After 38 shots on goal without scoring, the Steele County Blades' 39th shot found the back of the net Friday night on their way to a 4-1 win over Blaine.

Steele County even needed a little help from the Energy to get their first goal. The shot by the Blades' Oskari Valli (Pori, Finland) deflected off a Blaine defender and past goalie Brady Goodman 1:33 into the third period. Koy Payne (Elysian, Minn.) assisted on the goal. The lead didn't last long. The Energy scored 16 seconds later to make it 1-1.

Steele County went ahead for good at 4:35 on a power play goal by Soren Colstrup (Ellendale) with assists to Colton Sprenger (Clive, Iowa) and Chase Wedding (Powell, Ohio). The Blades added goals by Kory Potach (Austin, Minn.) and Kyle Wadden (Des Moines, Iowa) for the 4-1 win.

The Blades (6-1-1) outshot the Energy (0-9) 59-20. Friday's win wrapped up a stretch of three straight home games for Steele County. The Blades go to Wisconsin Rapids on October 28-29. Steele County will be back on home ice November 11-12 against the Chicago Cougars.
