Registration has opened for the 14th annual STRIVE wellness run and fitness walk on Saturday, August 19, starting and ending at Owatonna High School.

The annual Steele County Fair event features a 5K run and 2-mile walk, in addition to a kids fun run to open the morning at 8:15AM. Registration is $25 through August 16 and $30 on race day. The kids run is just $1 and can be paid on the day of the event.

The 5K and 2-mile treks begin at 9AM. The event is chip-timed. The course is flat and weaves through residential areas. Local residents will be out along the course cheering on the participants. More than 200 runners competed in rainy conditions in 2016.

A souvenir t-shirt is included with registration. Money raised supports the Owatonna Rotary Club's STRIVE program. The acronym stands for Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education.
