Owatonna Aces amateur baseball, along with Post 77 American Legion and Post 3723 VFW baseball seasons are underway. The Aces and VFW were state tournament teams last year.

The Aces season opened May 22. After a couple of losses they went on a little winning streak. Owatonna lost Sunday 6-5 at Wanamingo. The Aces play at Stewartville on Wendesday, June 15, at 7:30PM. They play at the Arlington / Gaylord Tournament on Friday night at 6:45PM.

Longtime Aces manager Charlie Fuller passed away June 4.

The American Legion team, which has a roster that looks similar to the high school team, opened its season with a win at Rochester Century last week. The Legion plays at Kasson on Monday, June 13, and hosts New Prague on Tuesday, June 14, in a 5PM doubleheader at Fuller Field at Dartt's Park. The Legion's schedule has them on the road for most of June, with plenty of July home dates.

Owatonna's VFW team will travel to Omaha for an annual tournament they play in this weekend.

The high school season concludes with the state tournament June 16-20 at various sites. Northfield represents the Big Nine and plays Henry-Sibley on Thursday, June 16, at Siebert Field at the University of Minnesota at 3PM. Pine Island has drawn a tough opening round opponent as they will face No. 1 ranked Belle Plaine in St. Cloud on Thursday at 10AM. KDHL Radio AM 920 will broadcast all of the Raiders and Panthers games.

The prep championship games will take place Monday, June 20, at Target Field.
