For the second time in his prep career, Owatonna's Peter Jones finished in second place at the state golf tournament. He shot 73 Wednesday for a two-round 144, one shot behind the medalist.

The Moorhead senior who won the title shot a 69 on Wednesday, the best round of the day at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. He had a two-day total of 143. Jones was also the runner up as a sophomore. He finished three shots behind the winner that year, in a five-way for second place. Jones came in seventh as a junior and 15th as a freshman. He will play for the University of Minnesota.

OHS senior Maddie Peglow shot a 92 on Wednesday to follow up her 90 on Tuesday. She ended up in a tie for 64th place.

The Triton boys team held on to its fifth place standings on Wednesday. They shot 313 after Tuesday's 316. The Blake School and Mankato East tied for the team title. Individually, Cobras junior Jaden Thiemann finished 71-76 for a total of 147 and a seventh-place finish, which is good enough to earn all-state honors. Senior Zach Otto shot 73 Wednesday, five shots better than Tuesday, to finish with 151 in a tie for 19th place. Senior Preston Pflaum and junior Ethan Otterbein each carded 82 in the second round, improving on their opening round score. Eighth-grader Austin Gillund shot 86. Junior Max Henderson had to withdraw.

Blooming Prairie sophomore Taylor Christianson remained in a tied for 12th place Wednesday at Pebble Creek in Becker. She followed up her 86 with an 87 for a tournament total of 173. The winner fired 153.
