Owatonna junior wide receivers Noah Budach and Dalton Kubista catch footballs and block for their running backs. They don't play defense.

A few years ago Owatonna opened up their offense to include much more passing. Players like Budach and Kubista have a chance to shine in this style of play. The two have combined for about 50 receptions, more than 500 yards and seven touchdowns for the Huskies (7-2), who will host Northfield (7-2) Friday in the Section 1-5A championship game.

Budach caught a touchdown pass from Abe Havelka on the opening play from scrimmage against Austin on Saturday night. He says they believed they could get a big play if the Packers lined up a certain way on defense. He was right.

Kubista caught a touchdown pass in the second half, just barely keeping the ball off the ground. The officials had to confer for a few moments before confirming the score.

Neither player expressed much interest in playing defense while talking to KRFO's Roy Koenig. With Owatonna's three- and four-wide formations Budach and Kubista can keep focusing on being one-way players.
