The Owatonna girls' basketball team beat Rochester Mayo Tuesday night 48-38. Senior Sydney Schultz left the game early in the second half with an apparent knee injury and did not return to the game. About two minutes into the second half, she went up for a contested shot and was on the floor in pain moments later. Schultz was assisted to the locker room, but returned to the bench later in the half with a bag of ice on her knee. After the game she was walking on her own, but with a limp.

Schultz, Owatonna's all-time leading scorer, had 17 first half points as OHS forced 17 turnovers that led to several fast break baskets and boosted the Huskies to a 33-21 halftime lead. The advantage could have been bigger, but OHS shot just 2-for-11 on three-pointers. Jenna Zeman led Owatonna for the night with 19 points, ten after halftime.

OHS scored just 15 points in the second half, but limited Mayo to 17. Bria Wachowiak was the only other Husky with multiple baskets and ended up with five points. Mayo was led by Anna Miller and Jenifer Giefer who each had double-digit points and more than five rebounds. Owatonna earned a season sweep of the Spartans.

Owatonna (17-6, 16-3 Big Nine) hosts Red Wing Friday at 7:30PM on Kat Kountry 105FM. The Huskies have won nine of their last ten games. Mayo (11-12, 9-10) plays Rochester Century Friday.
