New Owatonna Public Utilities General Manager, Roger Warehime was a guest on AM1390's Talk of the Town. Roger has served in his new role for a week now, succeeding Mark Fritsch who will retired on December 28.

Looking ahead to 2019, Warhime stated that OPU customers can expect a 3% drop in electric rates and a decrease of 2% in natural gas rates. This will help to counter an anticipated 5% increase in water rates.

Among some of the upcoming work projects include adding some capacity to the west Owatonna sub station. OPU has signed an agreement with Steele Waseca to take over some service territory in the industrial park. There is also work scheduled on the outage management system and work on the advanced meter infrastructure that will alert the utility of power outages even sooner.
